UK officially joins CPTPP, British Ambassador thanks Vietnam

According to a statement from the British Embassy in Hanoi, the signing event to join the CPTPP was attended by New Zealand Trade Minister Damien O'Connor, Vietnam's Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen Hong Dien, and Canada's Trade Minister Mary. Ng, Japanese Economic Recovery Minister Goto Shigeyuki and Australian Deputy Trade Minister Tim Ayres.
The signing marks Britain's official accession to the CPTPP , after London completed negotiations earlier this year. Next, the UK government will take the necessary steps to ratify the agreement, including parliamentary oversight, while the other member states of the CPTPP finalize their respective internalization processes .
The signing took place in the context of the UK government publishing a new report that in 2019, one in every 100 British workers worked for businesses owned by the CPTPP bloc, equivalent to more than 400,000. jobs across the UK.
