Qatar Open Amateur Golf tees off today

Doha [Qatar], April 2: The 40th Qatar Open Golf Championship tees off on Thursday at the Doha Golf Club, with a field of 90 players competing over three days in one of the country's leading amateur tournaments.
A strong home contingent headlines the field, with Qatar's national team competing alongside regional and international players. Among those in action are Saleh Al Kaabi, Daniel Sokolov, Jaham Al Kuwari and Abdulrahman Al Shahrani, joined by Allard Bilstra, Niklas Bjorkhammer, Richard Bolton, Tushardip Burgohin, Stephen Britton, Claes Byberg, Matthew Castel, Martin Clancy, Laurent Constanti and Winston Agcon.
Regular amateur participants also return, keeping the event's tradition of blending emerging and experienced talent.
The tournament will be played in a singles stroke-play format over the first two rounds. At the end of tomorrow's play, the top 50 competitors will advance to Saturday's final round, where the champion will be decided.
Victory carries added significance, with the winner earning a place in the Qatar Masters, one of the region's most prominent events featuring leading professional golfers from around the world.
Now in its 40th year, the Qatar Open remains a key fixture on the domestic calendar, offering local players valuable competitive exposure while reinforcing Qatar's growing presence in the sport.
