Mar 25, 2024

Paris [France], March 25: France has decided to raise the security alert level to the highest level after the theater attack in the Moscow region of Russia.
After a meeting between French President Emmanuel Macron and senior defense and security officials on March 24, French Prime Minister Gabriel Attal announced that the government was raising the security alert to the highest level after the attack on Moscow, according to AFP. .
"With the attack claimed by the Islamic State (IS) and threats weighing on the country, we have decided to raise Vigipirate's status to the highest level: emergency attack ", Prime Minister Attal said, referring to France's national security warning system .
The system has three levels and the highest level is activated when there is an imminent risk of an attack in France or abroad. When this level is activated, there will be additional special security measures such as increased military patrols in public places including train stations, airports and religious places.
The decision comes as Paris prepares to host the Olympics in a few months. Security concerns are expected to heighten around the opening of the Games on July 26, when boats will swim along the Seine River and crowds will watch on both banks.
In the past, France has suffered many bloody terrorist attacks, including the attack on the Bataclan theater in Paris in 2015, which left more than 130 people dead.
IS claimed responsibility for the attack on the Crocus City Hall theater in Moscow on March 22, leaving 137 people dead and 180 injured. According to TASS, 11 people involved were arrested, including 4 gunmen. During the trial on March 24, two people were charged with terrorism, including one person of Tajikistan nationality, named Dalerdjon Mirzoyev.
