Oceania [Fiji], August 24: Fiji was among 16 university teams from 15 countries and regions competing at the ABU Robocon 2026 in Hong Kong.
This year's competition, themed "Kung Fu Quest," challenged young engineers to use two robots to forge traditional weapons, collect martial arts manuals and compete in strategic duels.
The event brought together more than 650 participants, supporters and media representatives, with around 2,000 spectators attending.
Fiji competed alongside teams from across the Asia-Pacific, including Japan, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand and Vietnam.
After several intense rounds, the University of Hong Kong emerged as the 2026 champion, with both Hong Kong teams reaching the final.
The competition combines robotics, engineering, creativity and teamwork while giving young innovators an opportunity to exchange knowledge and build international connections.
Indonesia will host the next ABU Robocon competition.
